Paving news topped Village Manager Philip Zegarelli's report.

Paving Prep Work

Phase 2 will be prepping various village streets for post-Labor Day paving work.

"This specific phase is non- Con Edison gas main road re-paving," Zegarelli said.

As for a Con Edison update, regarding Pleasantville Road gas mains, there is slow progress as individual installation work continues.

Library and Community Center

The library also has a variety of adult book discussion groups, including Contemporary Fiction by Award-Winning Authors, which is a Wednesday meeting; Books That Will Keep You Reading: Brown Bag Lunch Group, a Tuesday meeting; and Books That Will Start You Thinking: Nonfiction Book Group.

Copies of the books for each group are available to borrow one month before to the meeting. Registration is required: email Shelley Glick at sglick@wlsmail.org or call the library at 914-941-7072.

Recreation and Parks

Hours for Law Park Pool are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Monday, Sept. 5. Contact the Recreation Office if you need a daily use permit or additional guest passes.

Briarcliff Manor's Community Day 2016 will be Saturday, Sept. 10. A variety of food trucks will bring their fare.

Nonprofit community-based groups that wish to participate should contact the Recreation Department for details.

Rising fifth- through eighth-graders should RSVP for the Youth Center's annual "Back with a Splash" pool and dance party, on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

"This event is a great way to kick off the school year and get involved with the Youth Center program," Zegarelli said.

The cost is $15 per student. Get the registration form here.

Briarcliff Manor Youth Soccer Club registration is still open for pre-K and U6 (K) soccer -- but all the other age groups are now wait-list-only. Check out the BYSC website for session schedules and registration info.

The New York Red Bulls are also hosting soccer clinics on seven Mondays through November, for kids ages 6-12. Click here for more info.
