Yoga Teachers Association of the Hudson Valley is excited to announce its next workshop, Handcrafted Yoga with Al Bingham, which will take place on Saturday, October 8, at Club Fit in Briarcliff Manor, NY.

Handcrafted Yoga is a process-oriented approach to revealing the state of yoga that exists within each practitioner. The process celebrates the uniqueness of individuals and focuses on creating an environment that’s conducive to leading practitioners from a state of distracted attention (citta-vrtti) towards an experience of being rooted in the depth and breadth of who they are (drastuh svarupe avasthanam). In this 3-hour workshop, Al will share the principles that drive his approach as well as a host of strategies and techniques that influence his process of handcrafting movement, breath, and rest practices.

Al Bingham has owned Encourage Yoga in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, since 2013 and has been teaching since 1995. He has trained aspiring teachers, developed continuing education programs for experienced instructors, and collaborated with physical therapists, personal trainers, psychologists, orthopedic doctors, and physiatrists. Al received his yoga training through Yoga Zone founder Alan Finger and the American Viniyoga Institute led by Gary Kraftsow. In 2011, he completed a yearlong fellowship at the Gray Institute with Dr. Gary Gray, a highly regarded physical therapist/movement specialist known as the “Father of Function” for his groundbreaking work in functional biomechanics. Al has co-authored two books on yoga published by Random House and is featured on Yoga Zone DVDs and the Yoga Zone television show. Al is also featured in videos and podcasts published by GrayInstitute.com.

The workshop will be held at the Yoga Studio at Club Fit, 584 North State Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510, on Saturday, October 8, from 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. The cost is $45 for YTA members and $65 for nonmembers who register in advance; $55 and $75 at the door.
